1996 to 1999 Fender Custom Shops Strat's are the last from Fender that go up in value!. Think on that one. Why?
You get only the Strat Neck with Tuners and String Tree in this sale. It's currently on a 59 Pre CBS Build.. Again.. This Neck Plays itself... and my final . Fender was building all the parts... bodies...necks etc. Shipping all those parts to Vince Cunetto that lived in Missouri. There the parts got finished and aged by the Master Vince and his small team. Then all got shipped back to Fender, Fender assembled the guitar and went to a customer that waited a year to get his Relic..You paid in full up front. Vince was working out of his garage in those days.
Now we all know the 1996 Thru End of 1999. The Custom Shop Guitar's are really above the Rest. NO NOT REALLY, They Just Are. Facts are those Years Fender Go Up In Value. Yes Vince did Great Finish Work and ageing.. But the Heart of them Tone Rockets was the WOOD. You can finish any neck and body to look old, look kind of close to the Vintage. Fender was starting a New thing, Take a new spotless guitar and beat it up. Fender had/used the Great Tone Wood. As you only get 1 time to make a 1st impression! You blows it, no one be buying the never heard of Custom Shops. All 1st year of a new Brand or Line of every guitar maker.. just seem to be their Best and keep going up in value. Taylor/PRS/Murphy/Fullerton 82-84... Then they all go to... well not like the very early ones.. That's the way I live it.
