Model info: Designed after the 1957 version of the Stratocaster, the 1982 ’57 American Vintage Reissue, produced both in Japan and at the U.S. Fullerton plant, was Fender’s look to the past for its stake in the future. Features included a 21-fret maple neck with maple fingeroboard, vintage-size frets, alder body, white pickguard, 3 American Vintage single coil pickups, 3-position pickup selector switch installed (5-position replacement included), and vintage-style vibrato/bridge. Available in Black, Candy Apple Red, Fiesta Red, 2-Tone Sunburst, Vintage White, and Ocean Turquoise.
Notes: Though the Fender-CBS period was just about to end (1985), 1982 was an important year for Fender as both the Standard (“Dan Smith”) Stratocaster, which a few years later (1986) would become Fender’s flagship American Standard, and the two American Vintage Reissues (’57 and ’62), were introduced to a public hungry for the pre-CBS Stratocaster.

The 1982-84 57 and 62 Fullerton Reissues have gone up in value every year. The 1996-99 Cunetto Relics the same.. Tell me 1 other year Fender Strat, Custom Shop, Masterbuilt, All the model that are worth more Today, than they cost new? It's in the W@@D. 82-84 was 1st Fender was out to make a name on. them. 96-99 Cunneto's the same. You get only 1 time for 1st impression. The Fullerton pulled Fender out of the Dumps. No one was buying them 3 bolt poor quality heavy logs.. I never sold them either. 96-99 Relics... Well no one dreamed of making a guitar and then beating it up and people buy them. Fender pulled out the Best Tone Wood they find.. This is my opinion and not a cut and paste from the web... But I am right on this fact..
Just look at pictures next to my 1958 3 Tone Sunburst Strat... These Fullertone's, ARE NEXT Best at that 50k+ PRE CBS!

Only real mark to mention is the wear mark or chip in finish on 2nd fret. Very minor, you do not feel it..
Nitro Finish, 2 Tone .. I mean these Strat's are made from old machines Fender used back since 1950's
Pickups have North Polarity Alnico Staggard Pole Magnets, like a Pre CBS 1957 Strat has...
The screws are all nickle plated Philips oval head made will same machines as Pre CBS Fender used...As It came from Fenders Fullerton Plant. Heck even the 3 way switch are left over Fender NOS parts from 1968
