1951 Gibson J-50 dreadnought acoustic guitar in great, lovingly played condition. With a few J-50s shipped in 1942, the model was officially launched in 1947 as a sibling model to the J-45 as part of the J series, designed to compete with Martin's similar round shoulder D series. Whereas the J-45 almost exclusively had a black sunburst finish to cover up imperfections in the spruce top, by 1947 the war was over and quality wood suppliers were much more plentiful, so the newly released J-50 came in a natural finish to show off the (now triple bound) quality woods used! Known for its warm bass sound and good projection, as well as outstanding playability, this particular instrument exemplifies all the best qualities of a soft shoulder Gibson dreadnought. With a solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, the wood in this guitar has aged to perfection, producing an incredibly complex, dry tone. Chords ring out in a beautiful way that is both clear and articulate while also managing to stay warm. This 71+ year old Gibson is proven record, if a instrument is taking care of, and very importantly proper humidified environment, Wood will last forever.. Many are near a heated source. dry climate, or damp basement. It makes the guitar a so so player, or crap player.

This had some Pro Love repair by Randy, @ Randy Wood Guitar in GA. The neck head stock was broken beyond repair. So randy built a perfect. ONE MORE TIME.. Perfect Big Round Gibson J-50 neck. In making the neck, he used original fretboard, frets, truss rod & tuners. He is known all over the world and has made guitars for Johnny Cash, Elvis and many professional famous people. Anything you get from this man is top notch.

Has been re bridge and that is correct. The nut. made perfect. It intonate and plays as good as any Vintage J-45.. J-50.. Many of the vintage Gibson or Martins really need a set re set to play correct. It's the way it is. Wood changed over many years. Like every pickup with need re winding sooner or later on your PRE CBS Strat. Facts are facts. For me now the truss rod has much adjustment in or out. It will be set for our life time.

The neck wood used is old that was in his stash at his shop. Randy would not of restored this if wasn't worth it..
