1955 GRETSCH WHITE PENGUIN USA CUSTOM G6134 RELIC BY STEPHEN STERN
This is a brand new 55’ Spec 6135 White Penguin model from the USA Gretsch Custom Shop. This is a truly phenomenal guitar and the White Penguin has a prestigious place in the history of the electric guitar. It’s been estimated that less than 50 white penguin’s were ever made making them one of the rarest Gretsch models ever, and one of the most sought after vintage collectibles. Like the original designers at Gretsch, Stephen Stern and company at the Gretsch USA custom shop have also spared no expense to produce this unique guitar, only this time to recreate it.
a
The Gretsch Penguin is one of the rarest Gretsch models of all time. With production beginning in 1955, it is believed that fewer than 100 were made before discontinued in 1964. Original features include a Duo-Jet body shape and Falcon peghead, pearl humptop inlays, and a roller space control bridge. It has truly has become a rare and covetable guitar.
Master builder Stephen Stern has tirelessly recreated the vintage specs of the original 1955 Penguin, and aged it to appear as it would today. The body features finish checking and light age marks, the gold hardware appears to have been used for years, and the peghead veneer has not discolored as would be seen on an actual '55. This Penguin not only looks great, but plays and sounds fantastic as well!
