This 1969 tele spent many manic years on the road with DC/TEXAS tele Legend Evans Johns before being given to Garry Tallent.
Johns was part of a very special time in rock and Roll rebirth amidst Glamour Rock and Disco. He was a member of the famous Good Humor band. He was Danny Gatton's right hand man, and is an unofficial rock and roll historian playing with everyone from Link Ray to Jerry Lee Lewis.
Garry and Evan met in Richmond in the early 1970's while Garry was playing in the beginnings of E Street, known as Steel Mill. They kept in touch with Garry producing some early recordings for Evan's self titled albums. Garry eventually moved to Nashville to become a full time producer and shortly after that the E Street Band broke up.
Evan John's and the H Bomb's third album entitled, "Bombs AWAY" was 100% produced on Garry's dime. For Garry's generosity, Evan gifted this 1969 Fender Bigsby Tele known as "Red" to Garry. Evan recalled in an interview that Garry immediately cut the strings and put a set of baritone strings on it.
