1954 ORIG FENDER STRATOCASTER PICKGUARD
WELL 2nd ONE I EVER HAD TO SELL, NOT ON THE 1st YEAR INVESTMENT FENDER!
Here is the story.
About 20 years ago, I bought a beautiful June 1954 Strat from A.R. Duchossoir
in Paris (I'm sure you heard about him as he wrote several books on strats
and was a well known expert) There were only 2 issues with this strat:
- the pickguard was original but a small piece had been broken near the
bridge an glued.
- the switch tip might not be original
It took me years to find a good 54 pickguard , but I finally succeeded in the year
2000 with Uncle Lou in NY. So I made the replacement but kept the original
pickguard as, even with this issue, it is still a fine historic piece.
On the back of the pickguard there is an 'ARD 10-03-49'
marking made by AR Duchossoir with a black marker. I guess it's his
birth date.
As you see under BlackLite, Only Real Deal glows like this. This Guard has CORRECT no shinny back as 1954 has. I sold this buyer a real Bake Lite Tip, and Now he has what he dreamed of. I KICK BUT PART OF HISTORY!
The repair part is strong and on the Strat you do not notice, in my book. Call if you are serious. These ARE NOT A everyday find, for me or you. The writing come off I am sure, but all is part of it's providence and history. Not to Shabby getting a Part that A.R. Duchossoir owned. He has written like kizillion books on Fender!
